2018 Equine Welfare Safety Net Innovation Grant

FROM ASPCA:

The ASPCA Equine Welfare Department announces a $50,000 opportunity for organizations looking to make a positive, creative and innovative difference to help equines in their community!

The ASPCA’s Equine Welfare Safety Net Innovation Grant Program is focused on bringing the newest, boldest and most creative safety net

and welfare programs to life.

Equine welfare is at risk due to a variety of factors, one of which is a lack of safety net support designed to keep horses in their homes (or provide access to euthanasia) when that is best for their welfare.

If you have what you think is a one-of-a-kind, innovative idea that will positively impact safety net services for equine welfare, we want to hear about it. If chosen, your proposal could be funded up to $50,000.

Innovation

The Equine Welfare Safety Net Innovation Grant is about discovering what can be done: We’re looking for something that could stand as a program for others to implement in their area as a way to improve welfare and safety net services for all equines.

For your proposal, consider:

 Innovative ways to identify and reach owners with at-risk horses

 New services or resources to help horses, keeping them with their owners

 New programs and processes to increase bonds between horses and their people

 Creative programs that need funding to get off the ground

Eligibility

Organizations located in the United States that meet any of the following criteria may apply for the ASPCA Equine Welfare Safety Net Innovation Grant:

 Veterinary clinics and all other equine service providers

 Equine associations or foundations

 Universities and trade schools

 Shelters that are 501(c)(3) organizations or governmental entities

Past recipients of ASPCA grants must be up to date with all ASPCA grant requirements. Grants will range from $5,000 to $50,000.
