Look your best - whether you’re showing or just practicing - with a few easy steps! Follow along for some quick, easy everyday makeup tips that will be sure to make you stand out in the ring with minimal effort.
Step 1.
Prep the skin. Be sure to moisturize, as your skin is your canvas and skipping this step will be sure to effect the quality of your makeup and wear time. Moisturize your skin with face masks, overnight creams, day serums, and moisturizers. If you want extra soft skin, be sure to add an exfoliant at least one night per week into your skincare routine to remove dead skin cells.
Step 2.
Before applying makeup, prep the skin with a primer compatible with your skin type. Use a face primer all over, and then use an eyelid primer to make sure that your eyeshadow will last all day without creasing.
Step 3.
Once the face and eyelids are primed, begin with eyeshadow. A natural eyeshadow palette is always a great product to use. Take a light brown color with a fluffy crease brush and begin moving the brush back in forth in the eyelid crease with windshield wiper motions. Once the transition color is applied, optionally you can add depth by putting a deeper color in the outer corners and also add dimension by adding a sparkly lid color.
Step 4.
Now that the eyeshadow is blended out, it’s time to apply foundation. For a full coverage look, take a damp beauty blender and apply the foundation all over the face. Make sure to use your proper foundation shade to avoid the dreaded foundation line. If you are unsure of which shade to use, any local beauty store such as Sephora or Ulta will color match shades for you based on your skin tone.
Step 5.
Once the liquid foundation is applied, set your face with powder to increase the weartime and durability of your makeup.
Step 6.
Now it’s time to start contouring and bronzing. Take a deep color and with a contour brush and begin to carve out the hollows of your cheeks. Once this is set, blend the harsh lines away by applying a bronzer with a larger brush.
Step 7.
This step is one of the most exciting - it’s time for highlighting. Choose your favorite highlighter and apply on your upper cheek bones with a fluffy highlighting brush to achieve beautiful glowing skin.
Step 8.
Now that your foundation, bronzer, highlighter, and eyeshadow are all set, let’s return to the eyes. Apply your favorite eyeliner, blend out the lower lash line with a deep eyeshadow shade, and then apply mascara to achieve your final look.
Step 9.
Set your face with a setting spray to enhance your makeup while also making it last longer. This step is crucial if you are planning to make your makeup last for the rest of the day at the barn or in the show ring.
