US Equestrian Invites Members and Media to Safe Sport Town Hall at the 2018 USEF Pony Finals Present

Lexington, Ky. – US Equestrian invites members and media to attend a Safe Sport Town Hall meeting on Friday, August 10, at 4:30 p.m. EST during the 2018 USEF Pony Finals presented by Collecting Gaits Farm. The town hall, led by US Equestrian CEO Bill Moroney and US Equestrian General Counsel Sonja Keating, will focus on the U.S. Center for SafeSport, federal law and reporting requirements, the role of US Equestrian in the Safe Sport movement, and the educational, support, and reporting resources available to our members. “US Equestrian is committed to creating and maintaining an equestrian community where all persons who participate in the sport can do so in an atmosphere that is free of emotional, physical, and sexual misconduct,” said Moroney. “Abuse of any kind has no place in our sport or any sport. We feel that it is important for us to communicate with our members, keep them informed, provide resources, answer questions, and educate them on the importance of the Safe Sport Policy. Engaging parents is critical to keeping children safe and this national championship provides an opportunity for US Equestrian to interact directly with parents and their children.” Additionally, US Equestrian will officially kick off its new Safe Sport awareness campaign, #YouAreNotAlone, during Pony Finals. The campaign will feature posters at competitions, advertisements in prize lists, town hall meetings at shows, new Learning Center videos, outreach on social media, and content on USequestrian.org and usefnetwork.com. US Equestrian also has debuted a new section in its digital newsletter, Equestrian Weekly, dedicated to Safe Sport news, updates, and information for members and non-members alike. Look for more information on US Equestrian’s #YouAreNotAlone campaign in the coming weeks. Additional resources include the U.S. Center for SafeSport, US Equestrian Safe Sport webpage, the Safe Sport Policy, the Safe Sport Q&A, and the Safe Sport Sanctions List.
